3 for 4

There was a time in my past when 3 for 4 was considered a good day at the park. Usually you walked out of the clubhouse feeling pretty good about your effort, but you knew tomorrow there's another game where you'd have prove yourself once again. This past weekend I posted the same 3 for 4 result, but the outcome was quite the opposite.

I did four races between Athens Twilight and the Roswell Criterium, but in three of those races I went down crashing into guys who tangled up in front of me. Lucky for me each time I landed on other people and their bikes which cushioned my fall. Every field size at these events is near the 100 mark, so you can imagine there's carnage just waiting to happen going into every turn. Though one of mine happened on a long straightaway with only three laps to go. Gee thanks!

Despite going down three times I didn't suffer any cuts or road rash, but my bike had some slight damage to the front wheel, seat post clamps and SLR saddle. Nothing that a little truing and fresh parts can't fix before going back out on the road to train.

Aside from the racing it was an eventful trip to say the least. I'll tease you with the words blowout and no-tread. I'll post pictures and stories on Tuesday evening. In the meantime go to NashvilleCyclist.com and read the latest guest diary post by Jason Chatham of Cumberland University regarding Athens Twilight.
