Happenings.....
I have been a little quiet this week, but the noise will rise this weekend. Myself and a few others are driving down to race at Athens Twilight and the Nalley Roswell Criterium. While there I hope to spend some time around the Jittery Joe's crew as well as the Toyota-United Pro squad. I'll have the camera with me to hopefully catch some good racing shots and view from the streets of downtown Athens, which is a madhouse on Saturday night. Then of course coffee shop reviews!
Before the weekend starts there is Critical Mass Nashville taking place this evening. The ride leaves from Dragon Park in Hillsboro Village at 5:30 PM. Everyone gathers at the pavilion around 5:00 PM, so go early and mingle. It's an eye-opener!
Saturday morning the Be There or Get Slower training ride takes off from the Model Airplane Field. Everyone meets at 8:45 AM with a 9:15 AM rollout.
If you want to watch another madhouse on Saturday then go early to witness the Country Music Marathon. It begins at 7:00 AM on West End Avenue in front of Centennial Park. The route has bands throughout the route providing entertainment and encouragement.
Athens Twilight is Saturday in Athens, Georgia and features a full day of racing leading up to the Pro 1 event that night. There are qualifying races for lower categories to compete in an evening race, but the highlight is watching all the pro teams light up the course with speed. Downtown Athens will be packed with 20,000+ people partying along the race route. If you have never been to this event you are missing one hell of a spectacle.
Nalley Roswell Criterium is another major criterium on Sunday north of Atlanta in a town called Roswell. All of the pro teams attend this as well after downing a few beverages after the crit on Saturday.
The Big Hill Challenge at Watertown takes place on Saturday. The roads in Wilson county are excellent, the view is beautiful, and there are definitely hills! This ride is organized and promoted by the Veloteers from the Hermitage area of Nashville.
With all that's going on this weekend you have no excuse to not have a story to tell your co-workers on Monday morning. Get out, be active and live!
