Coliseum Crit - May 20th
As you have noticed by now the second annual NashvilleCyclist.com Coliseum Criterium 2007 is on for Sunday, May 20th! I am very excited to be doing this race once again this year at LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans. It's a very straight forward event without a lot of fluff, but a great opportunity to race our bikes fast and have fun. Oh, and to win a little money! It will be a Division II TBRA event with a total purse of $1,550.
Online registration is available HERE on BikeReg.com.

Please do us and yourself a favor by saving time and pre-registering online. There are a handful of people already registered, but I would love to see more sign up ahead of time. Register early and I will have your number ready and filled out release form ready for your signature when you arrive. Another unique aspect of registering online is that you get to see everyone else who has already agreed to participate. In my view, as a racer, it's a motivating factor when I can see who has plans of attending.
I have staggered the start times to that many racers can compete in more than one category. This should give everyone plenty of time to take a breather and relax after a Masters race before tearing it up in the Cat 3 or Pro1/2/3 event. If you choose to race in a 2nd or 3rd race the price is discounted to $20 for each subsequent event, which means more opportunity to win your money back at a lower cost!
As someone has already stated to me, "thank you for creating the 'old man' category!" I have a category specifically for Category 4 riders who are Masters over 35 years old. Only those riders will be allowed to race in that category, so if you're a Cat 5, or Cat 3 or better and less than 35 years old then you will not be allowed to race. I will be scrutinizing racing licenses for this one event to ensure we have the proper riders within the race.
I hope this special category will draw many riders who have been frustrated in the past. It's in response to the growing sentiment that there are many riders who fall into the Masters Cat 4/35+, but have become a little disillusioned with having to race against a younger Cat 4 crowd or super fast Masters category. I believe the NashvilleCyclist.com Coliseum Criterium offers them a chance to race against their contemporaries and within a division of ability that has more parity.
If you fall into this category please race this event and specifically race this category I am offering. Your turnout will either raise the eyebrows of other promoters and TBRA in a positive way for your group, or it will hurt your efforts in the long-run of gaining more recognition and racing opportunities. I am providing you the chance to have your words backed up by action, so please take hold of the opportunity and prove your stance!
Don't forget this criterium follows the Intrepid Cyclist Sumner County Classic on Saturday, May 19th in White House, TN. Go ahead and make plans to attend May 19-20th for a full weekend of racing here in Middle Tennessee!
