We are pleased to announce a new bicycle racing team will soon blaze the roads of Tennessee and Southeast region. Popular online cycling hub NashvilleCyclist.com and Nashville bicycle shop Bike Pedlar have agreed on a sponsorship deal for the upcoming 2007 road season. The team will be known as NashvilleCyclist.com powered by Bike Pedlar, and will be based out of Nashville, TN.

According to Tim Hall, team owner and director, the squad will consist of ten riders ranging from Category 1 to Category 4 abilities. "I am excited about this agreement and embrace the opportunity to add another team to the racing scene in Tennessee. Our primary goal with NashvilleCyclist.com has always been to improve the cycling culture, and with NashvilleCyclist.com powered by Bike Pedlar we’ve taken a big step in the right direction," Hall said.

"At the Bike Pedlar, we’re always looking for opportunities to support the growth of cycling. Tim has done a great job of introducing Nashville to cycling through NashvilleCyclist.com and we’re certain this team will help bring even more attention to cycling in Nashville," said Kerry Roberts, owner of the Bike Pedlar.

According to Hall the team will concentrate on key races within the Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association (TBRA) race series, but they will also travel to many other regional events. "We will race to our strengths," says Hall, "and strive to extend our presence into all the states bordering Tennessee. While gaining exposure outside of Tennessee is important our bigger goal is to gain experience racing against deeper and more diverse talent."

The roster of NashvilleCyclist.com powered by Bike Pedlar reflects a mixture of seasoned experience as well as youthful talent. Veteran leadership is found at the Category 1 level with Torsten Lyon whose role will be to help guide the younger generation of riders such as Ben Bevans, Evan Hyde, Sam Miller and Whitney Stanbrough. Bevans and Stanbrough race as collegians for Cumberland University while Hyde does so for Vanderbilt University.
