Spring Training Criterium
Good news pedalcyclers.....
I am excited to announce that on Sunday, March 18th we are hosting the NashvilleCyclist.com Spring Training Criterium! The race will be held in downtown Nashville at LP Field, which is of course the home of the Tennessee Titans. The training criterium will be a wonderful compliment to everyone racing the Lascassas Road Race and Time-Trial being held on Saturday, March 17th.
We will be offering an "A", "B" and "C" race with the first event scheduled to start at 12:00 PM CST. In addition to the races there will be a racing and bike handling clinic at 2:00 PM held for 60 minutes prior to the "C" race at 3:00 PM.
The clinic will be conducted by USA Cycling certified coach Todd Nordmeyer. This is a great opportunity for beginner level riders or those who have never raced but are interested to learn what bike racing is all about. You should walk away with a greater understanding and knowledge of racing your bike. In other words, it's the perfect way to dip your toe in the pool to see if bicycle racing is as fun as it looks! Aside from the learning experience our goal is to encourage everyone to use this clinic as a stepping stone to participating in future racing events.
I will have the flyer posted on NashvilleCyclist.com by late Sunday night. Don't worry, I do have it completed and the permit has been issued by USA Cycling. For now check out the information below:
"A" race - 12:00 PM - - - 50 minutes
"B" race - 1:10 PM - - - 40 minutes
Racing clinic - 2:00 PM - - - 60 minutes
"C" race - 3:00 PM - - - 30 minutes
** all start times are Central Standard Time **
The "A" and "B" races costs $15 each, but the clinic and "C" race cost only $10 each. One day and annual licenses will be available for sale. Since this is a training race there are no prizes awarded as it is strictly for fun, pride and fitness! Regardless, this will be a fun event with a high level of competition. Net proceeds will benefit the Cumberland University Cycling Team.
