Hopkins wins at US100K

NashvilleCyclist.com diarist and Jittery Joe's sprinting extraordinaire Jeff Hopkins won the annual US100k in Atlanta on Labor Day.

See results and photos HERE.

There are some good shots of the sprint at the line, and it looks like Jeff knew it was in the bag because he's not lunging for the line at all. Although, it still looks very close with Emile Abraham coming in 2nd. In 2005 the finish was reversed with Emile winning and Jeff taking 2nd.

When I received word last night that Jeff had won I thought of giving him a ring for details. Then I remembered he and the boys had a bachelor party celebration planned for Monday after the race. Add that along with a victory and I'm sure he and Trent were painting the town not wanting to waste drinking time with phone time.

On the women's side it was Katharine Carroll's (another NC.com diarist) team Victory Brewing taking home the top spot as Rachel Heal won the 10k race. That's right, the women's race is only 10k. Katharine came in 13th with guest NC.com diarist Robin Farina on her wheel for 14th.

The surprise of the women's race was Debbie Milne from Tupelo placing 2nd. Debbie and her husband travel to Tennessee often to race, and she's a proven dominant force in the regional women's field. Now we know what we've always wondered, and that is she can race with the best in the country.

As for me, I'll have some STL details soon.....hard racing.....
