Katharine Carroll update.....
Ok, I've heard back from Katharine and she's doing well considering her brush up against a big Cadillac. She'll miss a few local races out in California as she gets over the soreness, but she didn't suffer any serious injuries.
From Katharine:
"I consider myself incredibly lucky to only have a couple scrapes and bruises. Basically a big Cadillac swerved outside of the white line and took me out pretty quick before he over corrected back into the other lane. I broke his side view mirror off. I went down and was standing back up within seconds...it all happened very fast. My teammate Kirsten was riding with me on a highway very similar to 96 in terms of the big shoulder. She was finishing up her last TT interval with me on her wheel cracking the whip. Just as she started her last, he knocked me and barely missed her......I feel really lucky to be okay and I am proud to say I was back on the bike today. I am pretty sore, so I think I am going to pass on the local races this weekend, but hopefully I will be ready for some crits they are having out here right before the Tour of California comes through."
Sounds like a quick recovery and a fortunate outcome to what could have been a more serious accident.
Everything can change dramatically in the blink of an eye or in the snap of your fingers. Occasionally life can be meausured in inches, not miles.
