Friends of Farina
Thursday the 9th is the "Friends of Robin Farina" fundraiser at Broadway Brewhouse. The mingling begins at 6:30pm and lasts for a few hours, although hanging around longer with your cycling friends is highly encouraged. Cumberland Transit is sponsoring the evening and hopes to help Robin raise funds to make the trip over to New Zealand for a couple of big races.
Robin has been invited to race with a team named Wholly Bagels based out of New Zealand. She'll get to participate in Women's World Cup and the Tour of New Zealand. This trip is a great opportunity for Robin to showcase her talent, and represent the Nashville cycling community across the globe. Also, it may be your opportunity to get your mug plastered on NashvilleCyclist.com as I plan to have the camera flashing.
I haven't talked to Robin in a few weeks since she's been in the Carolinas training. Hopefully I can catch up with her at length during the fundraiser so I can provide more details later. Maybe a Q & A is in order. I know I have slacked in that department, but I have some things lined up to keep you interested.
Remember, this event is a FUNDraiser. Bring some extra cash or a check and don't be shy about donating. Cyclists in general are typically blessed with deeper pockets, so reach down, pull out a few extra bills, and send Robin off focused solely on racing her bike!
