New Mtn Segment
Within the next few days we'll be starting a new section on NC.com that should satisfy your mountain appetite. There will be a regular local diarist joining the team who will provide not only race reports, but also develop a more comprehensive trails review. We'll also be developing regular trail training rides just as we have done for the road.
Admittedly, the mountain bike section has received the least attention by me up until this point. It's a wonder as many people click on those links as they do. I simply lack the knowledge and experience to even discuss mountain biking in any capacity. All my mountain biking friends keep encouraging me to get a bike and hit the trails, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. Maybe this winter, who knows.
So stay tuned as we unveil this addition to NashvilleCyclist.com.

I thought NCC was trying to move cycling forward? So why go with Mtn. biking, which is a "dead" sport!
Most pros have gone to the road. You should have gone toward the Xers..as in Free Style and BMX. This is where the Sponsorship and Money are being directed.
Why start another segment, why not build off the already building Nashville mtn bike scene:

As to the diarist stating few groups get together for mtn rides, he's hanging in the wrong crowds. There are weekly rides that rival Tues/Thurs road training rides, night rides, and pickup races that happen frequently. Maybe if people rode somewhere besides the airplane fields they'd learn there is a lot more two wheeled activity going on in this city outside the airplane clique.
I'm one of the road clique dudes from the airplane field rides...did'nt know that the web site you mention existed..thanks...some of the former mtn biking pros i knew trained a lot on the roads...we should do a training race later in the year with teams comprised of roadies and dirt riders...i'll spread the word around to see if anyone has the interest...i personally think it would be great training..not to mention fun!!!!
