Groundhog Day

By the time you wake up and read this Punxsutawney Phil will have already made his winter prediction on Friday, February 2nd. Will it be six more weeks of winter?

Phil has seen his shadow the last seven years in a row, but will he make it eight? In case you don't know the rules, if Phil sees his shadow it means six more weeks of winter, but if not then it'll be an early spring. I'm pulling for an early spring.

It's not too often that Phil doesn't see his shadow; especially when you consider this record:

Saw Shadow: 96 times
No Shadow: 14 times
No Record: 9 times

Now consider this fact - four of those 14 times of not seeing a shadow came during the 1990s. Oh, the years of greed and excess!

The impact of the beast's prediction will have significant impact on the cycling community. Could it be the past few days are Phil's way of forewarning us of his forecast? Stay tuned for our fate.....
