NFL upgrades stance
NFL to test for more performance-enhancing drugs
I do not have time this morning to delve too deeply into this subject, but is the NFL aware there are other "professional" sports in North America that test for EPO? Let's also not forget, Olympic teams of nations within North America could easily be categorized as professional instead of amateur.
The NFL now claims to be the only sports league to regularly test for the performance enhancer EPO. Hello, has the NFL heard that professional cycling exists in the US? Oh, I guess in order to qualify for an official professional sports league you must have an acronym that's only three letters, ie NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS.
Alright then, I suggest the sport of domestic professional cycling be known as Major League Cycling (MLC). Maybe USA Cycling can step in and "legitimize" an already professional sport into a "league." Then and only then would the NFL rightly claim to be the second professional sports league to test for EPO.
Now that I think about it, USA Cycling should do this anyway. The ramifications of a formally formed league would completely change how cycling functions at every level in positive ways I only dream of. More on that topic later.....
