Useful news 1/18
Coach Todd Nordmeyer is once again holding weekend indoor training classes. Visit NashvilleCyclist.com to read the news item with more information.
Over the next two weeks I will be working on the 2007 racing schedule and 2007 charity rides schedule. It's an exhaustive effort that's not as simple as cutting and pasting the 2006 schedule. Well I could do that but I would invariably end up putting out bad information, so I'll be doing my homework before posting the schedules. I believe the schedules listed on NashvilleCyclist are some of the most comprehensive ones available on the Internet, so keep an eye out.
Another area I'll be working on in the next month will be interviews. I have several people lined up who have agreed to do a Q&A, so now it's in my court to get my questions ready for answers. When the opportunity presents itself I'll even do more video interviews to post on the NashvilleCyclist.com YouTube account.
Are the porn spam posters still on holiday? The NashvilleCyclist message board has been spam free for several weeks now. I hope the freedom is due to the new filters in place, but spammers are quite clever. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this free board to communicate with area cyclists. There are forums to discuss general cycling news, racing news, and even a place to buy and sell cycling items. Currently there are nearly 300 people registered, but regular posters like Wade, Patrick, Nathan, Lochrider, MB2, Jesse, Ed and others would love some company.
Back to the Amgen Tour of California - This year's edition is shaping up to be its best event yet. The final list of teams was announced the other day and several more prominent European based teams will be participating. World Champion Paolo Bettini is scheduled to attend and it'll be interesting to see the rosters released later as teams announce who they're sending. Credit Agricole, T-Mobile, CSC, Rabbobank, Liquigas and Quik-Step are among some of those Euro teams that American cycling fans don't often get to see in person.
I know he won't be ready for the Tour of California, but Saul Raisin is apparently feeling better and better on the bike each day. My prediction is that if he doesn't begin racing in late 2007 that he will make his comeback next February at the 2008 Tour of California. What a story that will be when it happens. I see Saul having the opportunity to impact our sport much like Lance Armstrong by giving all Americans a reason to follow cycling for positive reasons, not negative ones.
