Weekend Happenings
Friday, June 30th : Critical Mass Nashville!
This ride rolls out of Dragon Park in Hillsboro Village at 5:30 PM on the last Friday of every month. Everyone begins to meet at the picnic pavilion near around 5:00 PM to mingle before the roll out time.
Saturday, July 1st : Tour de France!
There's no Lance this year, but that should make it even more interesting to watch! On Saturday it's the Prologue that's only 7.1k long, but it will be shown LIVE on OLN starting at 7:30AM CST. Everything starts with a TDF preview, but it looks as though the action doesn't begin until 10:30AM. OLN already has some videos up that you might want to watch to get warmed up for Saturday's action. The preview show has Bob Roll wearing a suit!? There are videos about the route and each of the top contenders.
The must see videos are about Yellow Jacket, "The Beach Crazy Cyclist." I especially liked the one titled "Rocket Science." To think they invested money in this is amazing, but it was surprisingly funny.
Saturday, July 1st : Be There or Get Slower Training Ride
WHO: you (and anyone else you know that pedals)!
WHAT: Saturday morning BToGS training ride
WHERE: @ the Model Airplane Fields (across from the Steeplechase/Percy & Edwin Warner Parks @ the intersection of Old Hickory and Vaughn)
WHEN: Saturday, July 1st @ 8:45 AM and rollout at 9:15 AM
WHY: (Pick 2) I'm too... fat, slow, fat, sluggish, fat, bored, fat, freakin' slow
Sunday, July 2nd : Tennessee State Time-Trial
This annual race against the clock takes place in Sparta, Tennessee. Registration is already closed, but start times will be posted on the TBRA website on Thursday night for those who are registered. There are 121 competitors lined up this year, which is a jump in participation from the recent past. State Time-Trial Champion jerseys are on the line, as well as bragging rights as to who really is the strongest rider.
