Tour news review
I haven't had much time today to follow the various reports about what's been going on regarding the Tour and the doping scandal fallout. Below are some interesting articles I recommend reading.
Bobby Julich interview with ESPN.com. He's doing a diary for them during the Tour. It makes you still want to believe in these guys.
Astana Wurth is finally out of the Tour. Too bad for Vino, but when nearly the whole team and upper management are implicated in the investigation this outcome should be expected.
Scandal changes the face of the Tour. I like what Basso says, "I'm waiting for someone to prove to me that I am guilty."
George Hincapie talks to CNN. This covers little about the scandal but more about George.
Chris Horner interview with Dailypeloton. He alludes to the scandal before names were dropped calling it the Salem Witch Hunt, and then they get a follow up interview after names are revealed.
How blood doping works. It's a good graphic with a timeline to help you understand the process. You may need to sign up for the NY Times to see this (it's free!).
Dismissals open the door for other riders to win. Again, another NY Times article.
Enough of that for now. The evidence had better be damning. Names on pieces of paper just aren't enough in my eyes. If that's the case then the tests don't mean a damn thing, but rather the scribble on suspicious "prescriptions" are the measuring stick for guilt. There must be higher standards for proving guilt. I know the legal world in Europe is different than America, but even a guilty man deserves more legal respect than this.
As much as I hate what's going on in baseball at least they can't ruin a man's career in the span of 24 hours based on possible circumstantial evidence. I'll be honest, my view is that many of those suspected of doing steroids probably did use the drug, but circumstantial evidence should not end a man's career.
