Ride of Silence success
There was a wide variety of bicyclists to show up. A dominant jersey seen was from the Harpeth Bike Club, so a special thanks to their club for providing support!
Next year I promise to do a better job with planning and not wait until the last second to throw it together. I am confident that with a well executed plan we could easily have a turnout of over 100 bicyclists. As someone who has been seriously injured while bicycling this event has personal meaning to me. Therefore, I assure you that this isn't a one year attempt because raising awareness and promoting bicycling in a positive light is one of my life's permanent goals.
This shot above was just as we were ending the ride on West End. We rolled out a few minutes late, but we timed sunset perfectly and wrapped things up to keep it safe.
Because I rode on the very front of the group it was impossible to take many pictures. Normally I'm snapping digital shots left and right at this sort of event, but that wasn't possible this time. Next year I'll have someone else tag along to be our official photographer.
On a lighter note, for those who participated did you feel like me, "Man, I really want to say something!" I had to bite my tongue a couple of times and use hand gestures or snap my fingers. We all honored the ride's request to remain silent, but it wasn't easy!
Thanks again for coming out and showing your support. Nashville's bicycling culture took a step forward last night.
