Edgar Soto : pre-register!

Tonight I took the time to ensure I would be racing in the Edgar Soto Memorial Stage Race, which is another way of saying I pre-registered online at BikeReg.com!

Registering online for any race is simple and efficient, but the most important aspect to Edgar Soto is that you MUST pre-register in order to start on Friday, May 26. Nobody will be allowed to walk up on Friday and register to race. Online registration closes at 12:00 PM CST on Tuesday, May 23rd.

The promoters have invested a lot of time, energy and money to offer this event. As of this moment there are a total of 183 people who have pre-registered. Folks, that's not enough. Come on, this is what we've all been training for for the last six months! We're talking about a four day stage race with a leader's jersey, points competition, time bonuses, and even hot podium girls!

Let's not forget about the money to be won. The upper categories have a lot on the line, but even Cat 4 and Juniors have a bundle to race for. Another highlight is the general classification which pays very deep in each field. This means you have placings to race for everyday because your cumulative time is what matters most. If you've been wanting to see how you stack up against the best riders in your category then I can't think of a better way to find out.

For you parents out there with Juniors age 10-14 the promoters are going the extra mile to entice you to come. How about FREE racing? Juniors 10-14 can race the criterium on Saturday and circuit race on Sunday for FREE. The promoters are committed to holding a race for that category, and I can't think of a better way than FREE racing.

One more added feature that you probably haven't thought of.....USCF upgrade points are unbelievable if you're wanting to go from a 3 to 2 or 2 to 1. You can earn points for each stage and for general classification at the same time. Rules state you can earn up to a maximum of 20 points for the entire stage race!

Lastly, I honestly feel we all have an obligation to support this event. Providing your support this first year will be what motivates the promoters to offer it again in 2007. The worst thing imaginable is for them to say, "We tried, but..." Every Tennessee racer holding a USCF license should be here without exception, and you should be emailing and/or calling your out-of-state friends to come as well. In other words, what's good for the race promoter is good for you the bike racer and vice/versa.

I feel like I'm building a case against the guilty (ie - unregistered) and it's a slam dunk! No jury would really need to deliberate. It's a unanimous verdict, go and.....
