Collegiate Nationals
I spent all day Tuesday traveling with the Cumberland Cycling Team from Lebanon to Kansas City, Kansas for the Collegiate National Championships. We left town early in the AM and started the day off right with omelets and coffee at Bread & Company on West End.
Then it was up I-24 towards St. Louis where we decided a trip through the Gateway City wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Arch. All of us had driven through the city many times without actually stopping and going up inside for a view, but the CU van wasn't passing up the opportunity this time. Look for pictures on NashvilleCyclist.com detailing this excursion.
From St. Louis it was about another four hours of driving until we reached our destination. We came out early in order to get the fatigue of travel out of our bodies before the races begin on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday we'll do recon rides on the TTT and road race course to get familiar with the terrain. Friday is the TTT race, Saturday is the road race, and Sunday will be the criterium championship.
This is it......the guys have been working towards this moment all year. They have achieved some outstanding results this season, but the upcoming events are the ones everyone will be remembered by.
