Tipping point.....
Have you read the book called Tipping Point? Our weekly BeThereorGetSlower training ride is approaching, possibly surpassing, our tipping point. Yesterday's training ride broke last week's record with 52 people showing up!
While this is a huge number we still identified a handful who weren't there that would have put that number above 60. Of course everyone can't show up each week, but we can dream right? Then again, we neither know nor reach every local cyclist through this site just yet.
This brings me back to our "tipping point."
A tipping point refers to anything that reaches a level of interest or success to where it then spills over into a mass movement, mass appeal, significant growth, etc. Our training ride appears to have drawn in an extra 25 to 30 riders who previously were on their own. Fortunately now they've found a weekly home, but there are others.
Back to Field of Dreams for a moment, "If you build it, they will come."
We are building a stronger cycling culture and becoming known as a city filled with people with a passion for their bicycles. With this cultural foundation forming it's becoming evident our message and appeal is spreading. As I've mentioned before we are all ambassadors for our passion, and if we continue building they'll continue to come.
Keep it up and we'll get what we've long been working towards.....tipped over.

Speaking of tipping points, there were tons of people at the Long Hunter State Park Fat Tire Festival Saturday. Not sure of the official count, but it was near 150 people ranging in age from 3 to 60+. New riders, old riders, racers, trials riders, even a few cross racers/riders.
If someone can provide more details I'd be happy to post a news item about the success of the event. If not, then go to the message board and post your thoughts. I appreciate your comments, keep them coming.
