Warner Parks history
Today's Tennessean has a nice short article about how Edwin & Percy Warner Parks came about. Thanks to the founder of our daily newspaper, Luke Lea, runners and cyclists enjoy the scenery and hills the parks have to offer. See pictures of the brothers as well as one of the Belle Meade entrance from 1932. There are other writings and references to the history, but this is a good Clif Notes version.

If you're interested in learning more about our local treasure then check out The Warner Parks section on Metro's website.
Plus, there is Friends of Warner Parks dedicated to preserving and protecting the parks. The organization is holding a 25 and 50 mile bike tour on April 1st. The bike tour would be a great way for anyone unfamiliar with the routes through the park to become knowledgeable where the next left turn will take them.
I recall the first few times I road through Percy Warner, and let's just say I gave myself plenty of daylight in order to find my way out. After a few trips through you realize it's an road system to figure out, thereby helping the gravitationally challenged avoid those tough hills!
