Podium finishes for CU

Great weekend of racing for the Cumberland University Cycling Team down in Statesboro, Georgia. The races were hosted by Georgia Southern University, which is just west of beautiful Savannah.

The team secured their first victory of 2006 and 5 podium finishes! It was Jason Chatham of Goodlettsville taking the victory in the Men's A road race on Sunday.

In all four races of criteriums and road races it was a decisive breakaway that garnered results. In each event Cumberland was leading the break and controlling the chasing peloton. Excellent teamwork throughout the weekend fighting off attacks and responding to the larger squad from the University of Florida.

The team time-trial was a big success too, but the boys from Florida have more "winter" training and fitness in their legs for the all-out 16 mile effort. Give Cumberland another month and the roles will definitely be reversed.
