Shark hits Cali TT
Imagine you're 6'3", 225 pounds and a professional hockey player on Olympic break. Gee, what to do on a day off? How about a 27.4 kilometer time-trial with no warm up? Yeah, that sounds like fun.
Actually, it sounds like it was a blast for San Jose Shark hockey player Scott Thornton. He was an honorary member of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis for the stage 3 time-trial, and got to race the course before the official race began.
Cycling is a passion for Scott as he uses it for fitness in the off season. Scott was decked out in complete professional gear with a team kit and team issued Cannondale TT bike. Despite starting without a warmup he finished in a very respectable 48 minutes
