Pro riders scrambling

I shouldn't be surprised at the latest developments with the Sony-Ericsson team not securing sponsorship, but because this happened as such a high level I am. Supposedly Ferritit dealt with an agent that didn't even represent the potential sponsor.

I don't know about you, but at some point in the negotiations I want to be sitting at a large conference table within company headquarters just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The CEO or entire board would be good choices to sit at that table as well. Add to that a large down payment in the form of a check, it clears the bank, and only THEN I start signing up riders! Moreover, if I'm a pro rider I'd pursue my own due diligence.

There are a lot of people scrambling for jobs now, most notably Stuart O'Grady and Gilberto Simoni. Most will likely be able to find a job eventually, but the ones really left out will be the support staff that had committed themselves to the new venture.
