Greenway'd up

Yesterday we strolled down to Shelby Bottoms to ride around the Greenways for a bit and support the annual Get On Your Greenway Day. As we coasted down the pedestrian bridge near the Titans stadium here was the first jersey we saw. Sweet!
As we rolled through we also ran into Glen Wanner of Walk/Bike Nashville as he was about to begin his ride through the Greenway system. Glen loses cool points to the guy above.
As we were leaving Shelby Bottoms we stopped and talked to Jane Laub of Greenways for Nashville, a not-for-profit coalition working on Greenway development. Jane was joined by Steve Sirls (sp?, I apoligize if I get this wrong entirely) in passing along great information about Nashville Greenways as well as handing out nice little gifts.
One thing I received was a large foldout map detailing the locations and progress of all the Greenways. I learned quite a bit from that map, such as I can now get on a Greenway at Stewarts Ferry & McCampbell to ride over towards Percy Priest Damn. This allows me to avoid lots of traffic and enjoy the scenery along Stones River.

I recommend everyone learning more about the entire Greenway system and how it can benefit the quality of life in your area of Nashville. We're excited to have the miles of opportunities in the Donelson area, and when the bridge across the Cumberland is finished we'll have easy access to Shelby Bottoms. I can't wait!
