Cumberland University Cycling
So the other day I'm sure you were wondering what I was referring to regarding pending news that I couldn't divulge at the time. It was because I was in the process of a final interivew with the President for the cycling coach position at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.
Well.....I got the job!
I can't begin to explain how excited I am about this opportunity. I have a long history with the university, and it's a place that I hold in high regard. I spent the better part of 10 years there, playing baseball for 3 of those years, while acquiring a bachelors and an MBA along the way. Not only am I passionate about the sport that has become a huge part of my life, but the university is a place I dearly love as well.
This new adventure will open up time and opportunities for me to become more involved in the cycling community in Nashville. The success of the cycling program at CU is now my top priority, but I'll be able to devote energy into other cycling related projects that myself and others have plans to attempt. Those details will live themselves out over time and you'll see positive results from our efforts.
I firmly believe the cycling program can become hugely successful and put CU on the map as a national contender each year for collegiate nationals. The 04/05 season was their first year in existence and they already have one national championship under their legs. Stephanie Hannos won the Division II women's criterium championship last spring. That type of result gives the program a good foundation to build upon.
