Churning Against Cancer

A local cyclist is stepping up to the plate and raising money to fight cancer, and to entice potential donors he has partnered with Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream in downtown Franklin to host a LIVESTRONG fundraising event. Nashvillian Brad Wormer is on a mission to raise $15,000 by September 3rd, and by the looks of things he's well on his way to achieving his goal. Brad began his campaign after his mother, Mary Wormer, passed away on August 2nd after a year long battle against lung cancer.

Go HERE to see Brad's fundraising headquarters site.

Brad couldn't have hit a softer spot with cyclists by choosing ice cream. This is a genius combination. By surpassing the $15,000 mark he will be invited to the Ride for the Roses in October. Let's do our part to support Brad and send him to Austin and ride with Lance.

The fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, August 21st at the Ben & Jerry's in downtown Franklin. The event will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with a bicycle safety course starting things off at 6:00 PM. The safety course will be a fun time for youngsters as they learn the dos and don'ts of riding safely.

Ben & Jerry's is contributing to Brad's LIVESTRONG effort based upon ice cream sales from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. That means show up at 6:00 to let the heat and safety course get you ready for a cool down, and then at 7:00 let the ice cream games begin!

You can bet NashvilleCyclist.com will be there with bells on. I challenge all other cyclists and friends of cyclists to attend, donate to Brad's campaign, fellowship, and then tear into some tasty frozen yogurt or go all out and hit the New York Super Fudge Chunk! Oh wait, or will it be Peanut Butter Cup or Chunky Monkey. Who am I kidding? It's going to be all of the above!

See you next Tuesday!
