Diabetic and Determined
Managing diabetes as an endurance athlete is a challenging task, but these athletes with Team Type 1 out of Atlanta are setting examples of courage for everyone to learn from.
Tobey Maguire: Spandex-Man
Spider Man to play Lance in the movie? Not really, but it looks like he's training with a power meter. I wonder about Spidey's threshold wattage?
EXCLUSIVE: Jake Gyllenhaal Wants To Play Lance Armstrong in Sony Bio-Pic
The TMZ report above linked me to this year old report. It's old news to say there's a potential movie in the works, but isn't it too early for a movie about Lance anyway? We just lived it a few years ago, right? Let's give it about 10 to 15 years and then revisit the memories.
Skimmed milk better than isotonics for post-sport rehydration?
Here's something not mentioned before; drink milk for recovery and retain much needed fluids or drink water or Powerade and excrete fluids for a negative fluid balance. It's a little more technical than that, but evidence continues to mount that milk is better for recovery than the conventional thinking. The end result was drink milk and become rehydrated or drink other drinks and remain dehydrated.
Pipp, Pic take Charlotte crit
Dubbed the "World's Richest Crit" in Charlotte this past weekend had some local connections. Jittery Joe's played into the action with Trent Wilson involved in an unsuccessful breakaway, and NashvilleCyclist.com diarist Katharine Carroll of Aaron's took home 5th in the women's event. With 40,000 spectators watching you know it had to be motivating to get a good result.
Kat Carroll of Aaron's looks focused and ready
Before the Saturday night crit in Charlotte she's looking focused. That or she sees someone taking cookies from her team bag. Wait, this mean mug definitely spells trouble for the cookie thief.
Dominguez and Pic cash in at Hanes Park
Tina Pic continued her success straight into Sunday's race and took home another victory check. Katharine improved as well and stepped up onto the podium for 3rd. She looks pretty happy along with Pic and Van Gilder on the podium. Another NashvilleCyclist.com diarist Jeff Hopkins of Jittery Joe's hit the podium steps with a second place finish at Hanes Park as well. The guys don't seem to like snuggling up like the ladies.
Its Poor Reputation Aside, Our Fat Is Doing Us a Favor
Yeah, let's stop castigating fat! I'll remember this the next time I'm putting down some ice cream or bon bon brownies.
`Bourne Ultimatum' No. 1 at box office
After the ice cream festival on Sunday afternoon I finally cooled off and took in The Bourne Ultimatum. I was disappointed the popcorn wasn't up to par, but wow, what a good movie! If you go be prepared to keep up with fast changing camera views which don't last more than three seconds before switching viewpoints. This can rattle your brain a little, especially when every second has an intense sense of urgency.
I have a movie idea that I think would be an even bigger hit. Combine the forces of Jason Bourne and his incredible ability to put down all on comers with Jack Bauer of 24 to fight evil across the globe. Both guys have proven that nobody can take them down. Yet, antagonists keep sending hopeless souls into their path thinking they really have a shot to stop them from their desired result. That side of their movies and shows is actually getting old because they don't get challenged enough. We all know they are going to outlast and beat any foe in a fight, however, they will at least do it in the most amazing manner.
Anyway, it's just an idea.
