Merry Christmas cyclers

From the NashvilleCyclist.com family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS !

By now you have hopefully arisen to a home filled with gifts under the tree left by Santa Claus. That is if you have been "naughty or nice" because you know the big man checked his list twice.

There are a few things I try and do each year during Christmas because it's the only chance I get to enjoy them. Like most other people I took in a drive to see Christmas lights and decorations through several neighborhoods. The lengths that some people go to make their homes standout for attention is unreal. I imagine that NES has a love/hate relationship with this tradition due to the electricity demands. The only way to make this ritual more interesting would be to do this on a night time bike ride.

One ritual that I have held since it came out is to watch the movie A Christmas Story. I'm sure you remember Ralphie and all his schemes in order to get a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas. You'll shoot your eye out kid! What a family huh? Seriously, there's someone in Ralphie's life that we all can relate to in some way. It was released in 1983 and I have probably seen it every year. It's such a classic that TBS is having a 24 hour marathon of this movie, over and over for 24 hours!

Here's another ritual that started just last year for me; during Christmas every year I now must watch the movie The Polar Express. I began watching this last year with a bunch of kids and became completely mesmerized. The animation, the hope of reaching in the North Pole, and the buildup before Santa Claus makes his presence captivated me like no other animated film. I don't care how old you are, you have got to see this movie. You will want to be seven years old again.

Those annual rituals are all enjoyable, but the most important thing for me is to worship the birth of Jesus. I realize not all of you are believers, but He is the reason for the season.

The last paragraph of your post is my favorite part. Thank you for being bold and sharing your faith with the rest of the cycling community.
