Best intentions

Wine on the River got me. I would have woke up early Sunday and checked out the Music City Triathlon had it not been for all those wine samples yesterday. Add standing on our feet for over four hours in the sun and it'll wreck any plans for something requiring an early rise or hard effort. My bike workout today was supposed to have been of the most intense kind, aptly named VO2 max. I'll give it a shot later just to rub it in and see if I can pull it off, but it's not a workout you can fake your way through. I might need to rethink this wine fetish, or is it that bike fetish?

For the next few months we'll be without a lot of cycling news worth discussing. The updates and blog posts are harder to create since the season is ending, but I'll be scouring the WWW to keep the site fresh and interesting. I have stumbled across more and more cycling related sites. Many pro cyclists are developing their own blogs as well as people putting together random sites focusing on a niche within the sport.

Here are a few I've been checking out lately:

The bikegame dot com - I'm not sure what the goal is here, but there's a few interesting items.

CycleSafe.org - These guys are onto a great idea. As someone who has tackled a steel light pole at 25 mph I would have welcome their safety guidelines! The other day when I found this site they had more information about their safety suggestions, but today I don't see any of that information listed. There were quite a few pictures posted showing their safety setup, and I assure you it wasn't hay bales they were promoting! Maybe they're going through an update?

A King's Life - From Jittery-Joe's pro Austin King, well worth reading! His post from 9/11 is something you should read, and not just because of that day's significance. He took a stance under unique circumstances that he should be proud of. After that seriousness scroll down to 9/6 titled "Season over..." where you'll find some late night dancing instructions on video from NashvilleCyclist.com diarist Jeff Hopkins. After his big 100k victory in Atlanta it appears Jeff is auditioning for that new show Dancing with the Stars.

Saul Raisin - He's going to be writing a book soon with author Dave Shields. I regularly check out Saul's site because he's good about updating. Oh yeah, his training is going strong as he just completed a 6 hour ride! You just know this kid is destined for great things.

Thanks for the mention.

I really appreciate it.

I enjoy sharing my unique and sometimes odd perspective of cycling and the world around me. And come on... How could you not like Hoppy dancing?
