Hincapie day in G'ville

When you help win 7 Tours de France and bring home a stage victory it's time for the town to show support. Greenville, SC did just that by honoring George Hincapie on September 9th with his very own downtown parade.

News coverage with video from WYFF. The video is a full length one that lasts, I'm guessing, about 60 seconds. The atmosphere looks pretty cool in downtown Greenville with thousands of people showing up. It doesn't hurt that Mr. Lance Armstrong was there for the festivities.

Of course Cyclingnews has a great news article. Lots of pictures and quotes with this one too. When you get a 40 foot tall billboards of yourself on the sides of buildings that's when you know you've done something.

George gives his thanks and is a bit overwhelmed at the turnout.

Good things always happen to good people. What do you want to bet there were countless little kids at that parade that will never forget the memory? We'll be reading interviews 10 to 20 years from now about a kid from Greenville who aspired to be like George. What a tremendous positive impact one person can have.
