Century Oak Winery
Wow, what a day. We were at Adam Housley's family owned Century Oak Winery bottling wine all day long. It was 50% cool experience, 50% work, but 100% incredibly fun!
I don't have time this morning to explain all the forthcoming details, but here are some things to look forward to.....
I took a lot of pictures
I got the 1st bottle off the line!
My wine consumption started at 10:30 AM
My wine consumption ended at 7:30 PM
Learned a lot about wines and the region
I was the shrink-wrap master
Production delays caused by the labels
1800 cases of wine, over 20 pallets
Approximately $280,000 retail value of wine
Food, chips, grilling, pizza, too much snacking
Lots of people chipping in and working
Vineyards all around us, cabernet grapes everywhere
My favorite was the Rose'
Called and text'd several friends to rub it in!
12 bottles are being shipped to me, need help drinking them!
I could go on and on. I'm debating on whether or not to put the pictures up on NashvilleCyclist.com because it's not about cycling, but if I saw you then you'd want to see pictures anyway. Needless to say I was tired and worn down by the time we got home around 9:00 PM, but there was a big sense of accomplishment afterwards.
They are already talking about the next bottling that will probably take place in February 2007. Fall harvest is just over a month away, and after a 3 to 4 month fermentation it will be ready to bottle. I'm already making plans to attend!
Today we are going to Napa Valley to visit Adam's parents, check out some wineries, and soak in the beautiful scenery. I've been to Napa once before, so I am looking forward to getting a second chance.
